Some of you today received our first Progress Reports for your children. These will be done every 3 months by the RECEs in the room summarizing your child’s interests, future goals and general comments. They are a summary following 3 months of individual goals, observations and activities. The children’s folders are now all placed on the table directly inside the Junior room for easier parent access.
The RECEs reference the Ontario publication Early Learning for Every Child Today: A Framework for Ontario Early Childhood Settings (ELECT) which is the main tool used by all early educators. In particular, the RECEs use the continuum of development (pg. 35-60) when making observations and planning activities. The link to the document is here: http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/childcare/oelf/continuum/continuum.pdf
Please see your child’s teacher for more details or explanations of anything on the report.
If you did not receive one today, you can expect to receive a progress report after your child has been in the program for 3 months.
