We have been super busy around here at Learning Garden and March was definitely a fun filled month!

We had special events each day during the week of March Break and the kids had a blast dressing up and participating.  Monday was pajama day and the children all brought their favourite stuffed animals for show and share.  On Tuesday, the kids got crazy hair styles complete with temporary coloured hair spray and were so excited to show off their new dos.  Wednesday was superhero / fairy tale day and we had superheroes and princesses galore!  The kids made special Batman masks and crowns that they loved creating.  Thursday was wacky clothing day and we saw lots of crazy stripes, polka dots and neon colours.  Friday was St. Patrick’s day and the children celebrated with lots of green clothing and special clover headbands that they created!  Thank you to all parents and staff for getting into the spirit and embracing the week as we all had a blast here!

We also had special guests come in both February and March to do different enrichment workshops with the children.  In February, we had Get Low Dance Co. come in for another dance and movement workshop.  The kids loved dancing to the upbeat music while expressively creating themselves through movement and dance.  We find all children love to dance and the joy that emanates from their bodies as they move their bodies is an amazing thing to see!  Dance is a great way to work on a child’s physical gross motor development as well as their social skills.

In March, we had The Travelling Stage come in for a Dramatic and Creative Movement workshop!  Rae Maitland, a Guest Artist with The Travelling Stage and fresh off of the Canadian tour of ‘da Kink in My Hair, led the children in fun drama games, activities, songs, music, movement, role play and lots of imaginative play.  Drama is a fantastic way to increase self-esteem and inspire children to strive for excellence all while having a great time.
